This conversation looks back on the birth of Art Basel in Miami Beach. Taking its model overseas for the first time was a bold step for Art Basel, but Miami soon became the beating heart of the region’s vibrant and diverse art scene.
Each of the panelists played a key role in the fair’s launch and in shaping Miami as an art city. Art Basel’s former director Sam Keller, now director of the Fondation Beyeler, was joined by leading collectors Norman Braman and Ella Fontanals-Cisneros. The talk was moderated by Marc Spiegler, Global Director, Art Basel.
