Today I will demonstrate plaster carving step by step, and be warned this video is LONG! I will walk you through how to carve plaster of paris to create organic abstract art inspired by Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. This plaster carving tutorial will give you insight into my ideas, tools I used and how to incorporate this into a classroom setting. Timing is key and this video was made over the course of several days and then weeks. Don’t let the mess and the time frame scare you, this is such a great way to learn subtractive sculpting techniques and is great for home studios and is very cost effective for the classroom. You can even use tools you probably already have laying around!
