@artparisartfair 2019
The #rendezvous for modern and #contemporaryart in the @le_grand_palais.
Focusing on a thematic approach and open to all #artistic mediums, the 21st edition brings together 150 #galleries of modern and contemporary art from April 4 to 7, 2019 under the majestic cupola of the #GrandPalais.
#ArtParis cultivates its difference, that of being an international #fair turned towards the discovery which puts the stress on the European scenes of the #postwar period to our day while exploring the new horizons of the international #creation that they come from #Asia, #Africa, the MiddleEast or #LatinAmerica.
With 150 galleries (compared to 143 in 2018), 44% new entries, 20 countries represented (including, for the first time, #Cameroon, #Bulgaria and #Peru), the 2019 selection reflects a move upmarket with the arrival of galleries like Art: Concept, Ceysson & Bénétière, Jerome Poggi, Praz-Delavallade, SAGE Paris… Women’s artists in the spotlight: a French scene of a different kind…
Under the curatorship of AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions, twenty-five projects of female artists have been selected from among the proposals of the participating galleries. This selection takes a subjective and critical look at women’s creation in France from the post-war era to today, divided into 4 thematic periods: abstraction, feminist avant-garde, image and theatricality. #AWARE was also invited to write a text about each artist placing their work in the #ArtHistory.
Southern Stars: an exploration of the art of Latin America…
In 2019, #ArtParisArtFair explores the artistic territories of Latin America from the 1960s to now. A selection of #ArtGallery presents 60 #Argentine, Brazilian, #Chilean, Colombian, #Cuban, Mexican, Peruvian & #Venezuelan artists.
Since 2015, Art Paris has encouraged the presentation of #monographic #exhibition scattered throughout the fair. The edition showed 46 #soloshow (vs 36 in 2018), an indication of the selection work that pushes all galleries to propose tight & precise projects for the fair.
And also “Promesses”, support for young gallery and emerging creation.
