Asian Art Museum San Francisco | Asian Art Exhibits and Gallery | San Francisco Museums
The San Francisco Asian Art Museum houses one of the most comprehensive Asian art collections in the world, with more than 18,000 works of art in its permanent collection, some as much as 6,000 years old. The museum opened in 1966. The Asian Art Museum holds many Asian arts from many Asian countries in different exhibits. This San Francisco Museum is one of my top favorite Museums throughout San Francisco and the country because it allows many Asian Americans and Asian Community to see & remember their culture through art. The Asian Art Museum is a place where you could continue to explore Asian history and the Asian art culture and see different Asian Galleries.
In March 2016, the museum announced that it will build an additional new pavilion to its current San Francisco Civic Center Building. The collection has approximately 18,000 works of art and artifacts from all major Asian countries and traditions, some of which are as much as 6,000 years old. Galleries are devoted to the arts of South Asia, Iran and Central Asia, Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, China, Korea, and Japan. There are 2,500 works on display in the permanent collection.
The Asian Art Museum SF is one of the places you must visit when coming to San Francisco. This museum is excellent because it is also a way for Asian Art Museum storytelling too!! Exploring Asian Art Museum of San Francisco!!!
